At Roundabout Glasgow, we aim to make your rental experience simple, straightforward, and hassle- free. These terms and conditions outline everything you need to know about renting with us. By completing a rental, you agree to these terms, so we encourage you to read them carefully. If you have any questions, feel free to get in touch - we’re happy to help!
Key definitions
- 'Company' refers to Roundabout as a service provided by Merry-go-round Glasgow, located at 51 Cadogan Street, G2 7HF.
- 'Customer' means you, the person renting our equipment.
- 'Equipment' includes all items and add-on accessories you’re renting, as specified in your order.
- 'Rental Period' refers to the time from when you pick-up or receive the equipment until it’s returned in good working condition.
- 'Hire Charge' is the total cost of the rental as outlined in your booking confirmation.
Ownership of Equipment
The equipment belongs to Roundabout and will remain our property. By renting and returning it at the place/day/time agreed, you agree to:
- Only use the equipment for its intended purpose.
- Not sell, lend or use the equipment as collateral.
- Follow our terms and care instructions during the rental period.
Payments and Charges
By renting from us, you agree to pay:
- The full rental cost plus delivery charges if you choose delivery.
- Fees for extending your rental period.
- Pay costs for loss, theft, damage, including replacement at current full retail value if the item is not returned.
If the equipment is not returned, you are responsible for all recovery or replacement costs.

Booking Confirmation
Once we receive your booking, we will send you a booking confirmation by email. Please check it carefully. If there are any mistakes or missing details, let us know within 24 hours. Otherwise, we will assume everything is correct and go ahead with your booking.
Extension of Rental Period
Delays? Need more time? No problem! To extend your rental period:
- Email us 3 days before your rental period ends so we can check availability.
- Pay the daily rate for the extra days before the extension starts.
If you do not request a rental extension and don’t return the equipment, we will charge a late fee of £20 per day until it is returned.
Product Availability
Our rentals and any extension requests are subject to availability. If an item becomes unavailable we will let you know as soon as possible and work with you to find a solution.
Delivery & Collections
- In- person delivery: We will deliver your rental items to the agreed location, within Glasgow, at the agreed date/time. We reserve the right to decline delivery to certain places if they are not suitable.
- Collection: Is free of charge and will be arranged to be collected from Merry-go-round, Glasgow, on the day and time of your choosing.
Our standard practice is to double check your delivery address with you before organising your delivery but it is your responsibility to provide the correct address for where you want your rented items delivered.
If delivery fails, for example, if you are not there at the agreed time, or we cannot access the location you have picked, we may have to charge you a rescheduling fee.
Before dispatch or collection, you must provide photo ID and proof of address (e.g a driving license, passport and a utility bill from the last 3 months). If you are unable to provide the required documents, we cannot release your rented equipment. Alternatively you can provide a deposit if you cannot provide ID.
Returns Instructions
Your rental ends only when the rental equipment is returned, therefore chargeable until it is returned.
Return or Collection:
- We will contact you near the end of your rental period to arrange the collection or return of the equipment.
- You must make sure the equipment is packaged and ready to be collected or returned on the agreed day and time.
- For local returns, items can be dropped off at Merry-go-round, Glasgow on the last day of the rental period, but this must be arranged in advance.
Late Returns:
- If the rented items are not ready for the arranged collection date/time, we may have to charge you a rescheduling fee.
Non-Returned Equipment:
- If the rented equipment is not returned, you agree to pay all costs related to recovering the equipment or failing this, the cost of replacing it at the current retail value.
Early Returns:
- If items are returned early for any reason, no refunds will be given for unused time.
Cancellations
Life happens, plans change - we get it. Here is what you need to know if you need to cancel:
- Cancellations must be made by sending us an email to rentals@roundaboutglasgow.co.uk
- Cancel more than 14 days before your rental starts: You can reschedule within 12 months or get a full refund.
- Cancel more than 7 days before your rental starts: You can reschedule within 12 months but a refund will not be given.
- Cancel in less than 7 days before your rental starts: You cannot reschedule and a refund will not be given. You will be charged 50% of the rental cost to cover the company’s costs.
There is no admin fee for rescheduling your rental.
Care and Use of equipment
Take good care of your rental equipment as if it were your own. You agree to:
- Use the equipment carefully, with care and for its intended purpose only and follow the manufacturer's instructions. Make sure to watch our handy video user manuals.
- Do not store or use the equipment in a way that could cause damage.
- Report any missing items, damage or malfunctions immediately, within 12 hours of receiving your equipment.
- Avoid trying to repair damaged or broken equipment before returning.
We promise to provide clean, safe and well maintained equipment, in good time for your travels. We are Revolve certified and we hold the EFQM Committed to Excellence award at Merry-go-round, therefore follow rigorous safety and quality checking standards as well as thorough cleaning and sanitising protocols. Each item between every rental is checked and recorded to ensure it is safe, in good condition and working order. If items do not meet these standards they are repaired or replaced.
On receiving your rental equipment, we advise that you check and make sure you are satisfied with it. If you notice missing or damaged equipment on receipt, let us know within 6 hours. We will do our best to replace or refund as needed.
Loss, Damage & Non Returns of rental items
You are responsible for:
- Returning equipment in a similar condition to when it was delivered - normal wear and tear is acceptable.
- Informing the company about any faults or damages within the time period above. Please stop using the item and report the issue to Roundabout straight away.
- Full repair or replacement costs for any damage incurred during your rental.
- Full replacement costs, at the current retail price, if items are lost, stolen or beyond repair.
- Any damage incurred in transit due to equipment inadequately packaged during returns.
- Paying full costs related to recovering equipment if it is not returned, or failing this the cost of replacing at the current retail value.
Insurance
We recommend you have adequate travel insurance or home insurance which covers the value of rented equipment to protect against loss or damage for the full value of the items in your booking.
Privacy Policy
Your personal data is in safe hands. As part of Merry-go-round Glasgow, a social enterprise and registered charity in Glasgow, we treat your information with care. It is only used for clear, specific purposes like managing booking, keeping in touch and improving our services through your feedback. We comply with GDPR, making sure your data is handled fairly, legally and securely, never keeping it for longer than necessary. You have the right to access your information, correct it, delete it or restrict its use at any time. Rest assured, our team is trained to keep your information protected and use it responsibly.
Termination
This agreement ends on the last day of your rental unless:
- You breach the terms (e.g., fail to return items or misuse equipment). The company has the right to terminate this agreement with immediate effect and repossess the equipment.
If terminated for breach, you’re responsible for repossession costs and any outstanding fees.
Giving Up Rights
We won’t consider any giving up of a term or condition in this agreement officially unless it’s in writing and signed by the person giving it up.
If someone does not enforce a part of this agreement, it does not mean that part no longer applies. They can still enforce it or any other part of the agreement later.
All the rights outlined here are cumulative. Choosing one remedy does not mean giving up the right to use others available under the law.
Responsibility & Protection
Roundabout Glasgow is NOT responsible for:
- Any loss, damage, injury or death resulting from the possession, use or operation of the equipment by you, the hirer or others, including equipment malfunctions.
- Special, indirect, or additional damages, no matter the circumstances, by anyone because of the breach of this agreement.
You, the hirer agrees to:
- Cover any losses or damages to the equipment caused by their breach of the agreement, including legal fees.
- Protect and cover the company from any claims, damages, or expenses (including legal costs) that arise from using the equipment, property damage, personal injury caused by the hirers use of the equipment. - Unfair Contract Terms Act 1977 (as amended)
This does not apply if the company is grossly negligent. - This responsibility stays in effect even after the agreement ends if claims or liabilities happened while the agreement was active.
- You will be held accountable for any breach of this agreement.
Amendments to Terms and Conditions
The company may update these terms and conditions at any time. Updates take effect immediately once posted on our website. We will notify you of any changes to terms and conditions if it is carried out whilst you have equipment out on rental. You will be asked for your agreement to the new terms, which you will be bound by as amended.
Governing Law
- This agreement is governed by Scottish law.
- Disputes will be handled in Scottish courts.
- This doesn’t prevent parties from pursuing matters in other jurisdictions if needed.
